Liberal MP Pablo Rodriguez has been charged with refusing to obey a police officer after a traffic accident involving his car.

Has anybody seen the Liberals who attacked Conservative MP Davinder Shory today? I didn’t think so.

The hypocrisy from the Liberals even amazes me sometimes. Let’s review.

Davinder Shory:

• A)  Charged with nothing.
• B)  In relation to something that allegedly occurred several years ago.
• C)  Put out a statement the next day.

Pablo Rodriguez:

• A)  Charged.
• B)  Had this happen last month.
• C)  Waited until a Friday afternoon before a break week to announce this.

So I have a few questions…

1. Did Pablo Rodriguez tell Ignatieff before today?
   
2. If so why did Ignatieff hide it?

These are important questions and drive right to the issue of trust.

If this information is correct Frank Graves and the CBC are their own worst enemies.

Neutrality–CBC/Frank Graves Style…

Pollster Frank Graves made his first appearance last night on CBC News Network since it was revealed that he is a long-time donor to the Liberal Party, as well someone who has given the Liberal Party positioning advice.

And what did Frank Graves do? He presented the results of a CBC “viewer-inspired” question on women and politics.

As host Evan Solomon said, “Frank, this is a fascinating poll because it came based on a viewer question, a woman named Mary Pynenburg, fascinating question and very timely.”

Frank Graves added “It’s pretty timely.”

But who is “Mary Pynenburg”?

Would that be the same Mary Pynenburg who was a two-time federal Liberal candidate from British Columbia and whose website is still active (www.marypynenburg.ca)?

Is this what the CBC and Frank Graves consider to be “neutral”?

CBC-Liberal “Culture War”?

Here we go again.

Yes, I am writing to you about the CBC. Canada’s national public broadcaster. A Crown Corporation that receives over one billion dollars per year from taxpayers. A network with a mandate to serve all Canadians.

In recent days we have learned that the CBC’s pollster on party politics, Frank Graves, has been providing both money (at least $10,762.81 since 2001 according to Elections Canada) and strategic advice to the Liberal Party of Canada. His contributions are huge and his advice is incendiary. Graves wants the Ignatieff Liberals to wage a divisive “Culture War” that would pit East against West, young against old, and urban Canada against rural Canada. He even suggests that if people don’t like the Ignatieff Liberal vision of Canada they can move to the United States (an odd statement given Michael Ignatieff’s fondness for America).

Week after week Graves expresses opinions about Canadian politics under the guise of being the CBC’s neutral pollster on party politics. And just until recently viewers have been kept in the dark about his Liberal contributions and his Liberal advice. But the CBC continues to stand by Graves, their “neutral” pollster.

This episode demonstrates – once again – that we Conservatives are up against a powerful array of vested interests. Vested interests who want to go back to the days of Jean Chretien and Paul Martin. Back to higher taxes. Back to a weakened military. Back to political correctness. And they’re willing to support a highly divisive “Culture War” to take us back.

We can’t afford to go back. We can’t afford to let Frank Graves and the Liberal “Culture War” to prevail. Because Canada, after years of drift, is once again moving forward. Our world-leading Economic Action Plan is delivering results. Our military is being re-built. And there’s a new spirit of national pride taking root across the country. These changes did not happen by accident. They are a result of strong Conservative leadership. Never before has the choice in national politics been so clear.

I am asking you to do two things.

So I called Errol Mendes, a law professor at the University of Ottawa and one of the country’s leading constitutional scholars. Have I lost it, I asked?

No, he said. You’re right.

Oddly, I did not find this reassuring. And the conversation only got more alarming. “Look at the incredible power this man already has,” Mendes said.

The same Errol Mendes who was a senior adviser to Paul Martin at PCO and has given thousands of dollars to the Liberal Party.  Yeah, not biased at all…

Premier Danny Williams expanded his attack on Prime Minister Stephen Harper Friday, casting doubt on the prime minister’s intentions for health care should the Conservatives win big in the upcoming federal election. “In a majority government, let’s see where medicare goes at the end of the day,” Williams told Transcontinental Media Friday. Williams said the five principles of Canada’s health care system – public administration, comprehensiveness, universality, portability and accessibility – are at risk. “Nothing would be safe, quite frankly, when it comes to going after sacrosanct principals. That’s one that would be right in his crosshairs, no doubt about it.”

Well, it turns out that perhaps Newfoundland voters should have been more wary about their own Premier’s commitment to the Canada’s healthcare system…

The deputy premier of Newfoundland and Labrador says Danny Williams is undergoing heart surgery in the United States because the treatment he is seeking was not available in his home province.

Do as I say… not as I do.

Should be interesting around the McGuinty family Christmas table this year: David McGuinty didn’t even bother to support his own brother!

The Afghan detainee scandal has the government’s spin machine on overdrive. First the Conservatives called Richard Colvin, the courageous public servant who testified about prisoner abuse at a parliamentary committee last week, a Taliban “dupe.” Now, we’ve learned that Mr. Colvin copied the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs on his warnings, suggesting that those at the highest levels of government were aware of the situation.

It’s textbook US Republican-style attack politics, except this time it’s undermining Canada’s mission to bring democracy and respect for the rule of law to Afghanistan. We owe it to our troops, our diplomats, and to Canada’s international reputation to find the truth about what happened. In times like these, no one can afford to sit on the political sidelines.

I think we can all agree, putting a party logo on it is probably taking it a bit too far, but having any kind of novelty cheque is now beyond the pale?

That big cheque from Gerald Keddy’s office featuring a Conservative logo got us to wondering if there perhaps other big cheques floating around out there that may promote partisan interests rather than pure government spending.

Let’s review, shall we:

• No party logo.
• Government of Canada logo.
• MP presenting on behalf of Health Canada.

Where was the feigned outrage when MPs from other parties were handing out novelty cheques?
